Job Description:

distribution.SummaryThe Maintenance A performs work involving the
skills of several trades including, but not limited to electrical,
instrumentation, fabrication, machining, etc. to keep machines,
mechanical equipment, and structure in repair. This individual
completes preventative maintenance (PM), repairs, overhauls, and
special projects to ensure successful and efficient production. The
Maintenance A has certifications in at least two of the trades
necessary to maintain the plant and trains less experienced
employees on the job as required. This individual leads assigned
projects and directs Maintenance personnel in the absence of
supervision. Key Responsibilities Maintains production, processing
machinery, conveyors, and elevators; troubleshoots mechanical
problems, explains process to less experienced team members, and
determines how to correct. Installs electrical power distribution,
control systems, and components throughout the facility.
Repairs, tests, adjusts, or installs electronic equipment such as
industrial controls, transmitters, variable frequency drives, and
programmable logic controllers. Assembles, installs or repairs
wiring, electrical and electronic components. Reads schematics and
mechanical, electrical blueprints.
Dismantles, repairs, and re-assembles mechanical regulating and
controlling devices including, but not limited to electric meters,
gas regulators, thermostats, safety and flow valves, and any other
mechanical governors. Operates electrical test equipment including,
but not limited to voltmeter, ohmmeter, megger, transistor,
etc.
Dismantles, repairs, and re-assembles pumps and all associated
equipment, gear boxes, hoses, and flanges. Performs routine
machinery maintenance including, but not limited to cleaning and
lubricating machinery, shafts, bearings, gears and changing
parts.
Fabricates components and materials; inspects welded joints and
conducts tests to ensure that welds meet company standards, code
requirements, and job specifications. Operates MIG/TIG and arc
welding equipment. --- Dismantles heavy equipment and machinery to
make repairs and PM; operates or assists in operating cranes (if
certified), hoists, hand tools and/or power tools.
Retrieves, prints, and completes/closes assigned work orders;
electronically updates progress in JD Edwards. Performs assigned
monthly and quarterly PM and routine visual checks of
machinery.
Completes requisitions to order parts, supplies, and equipment from
catalogs and suppliers; researches and makes recommendations for
parts and/or products. Collaborates with Buyer as required.
Maintains safe working environment by complying with all rules and
regulations, and continuously practices safety while performing
duties. Responsible for lock out/tag out procedures associated with
energy sources to include, but not limited to electrical, chemical,
compressed gas, gravity, and thermal.
Wears the appropriate PPE including, but not limited to assigned
uniform, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, hard hat, hearing
protection, respirator, acid gear and gloves when entering
specified plant areas at all times. Additional PPE may be required
based on specific job duties.Relevant Experience Two-year
certificate or degree from a trade school or college; or an
equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Certification in at least two trades (electrical, welding,
instrumentation, etc.) required.
Minimum of five to eight (5-8) years experience and/or training in
a manufacturing or chemical plant required.
Required to have the knowledge, skill, and ability to maintain all
of the plant equipment and tools without
supervision/instruction.
Ability to prepare basic written and/or computer reports; working
knowledge of Microsoft Office applications to include, but not
limited to Excel, Word, etc. Prior experience using JD Edwards.
Ability to use tools and equipment including, but not limited to
power (electric, hydraulic, and pneumatic) tools, presses, lathes,
various measuring tools, basic hand tools, calibrators, etc.
Knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses,
repair and maintenance.
Ability to read and comprehend safety regulations and policies, and
to implement safe operating practices; intermediate shop math
skills and ability to read blueprints and schematics.
Demonstrated leadership skills; ability to work independently or
under minimal supervision; a team player, and ability to work with
multiple disciplines.
Must be assertive, enthusiastic, accurate, and detail-oriented;
excellent attendance record and punctual.
Required to operate a front-end loader, fork lift, and/or other
equipment as needed; valid driver's license required.
Required to maintain reliable, regular attendance. Physical
RequirementsThis job requires the ability to work in excess of
eight hours per day to include weekends and off-duty hours to reach
operational goals and compliance requirements. Job duties may
require the ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, bend, stoop,
reach, lift, grip, push, pull, move and/or carry tools and/or
equipment which may be in excess of 50 pounds. In order to perform
the duties of this job, the incumbent may be required to walk in
excess of 350 yards to reach areas across the facility. Finger
dexterity may be required to operate various hand tools and/or
calculator, etc. This individual uses frequent repetitive motions
with hands and/or feet to complete job duties; may be required to
walk on uneven or slippery surfaces and stand for extended periods
of time. The incumbent may perform job duties from a ladder,
