New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans' Day, Thanksgiving Day and day after, half-day Christmas Eve; Christmas Day; and half-day New Year's Eve. Holiday credit may vary for law enforcement, fire, and other employees required to work on a holiday.Vacation. Eligible employees earn from two to four weeks of paid vacation per year, depending on their length of service and bargaining unit agreements. Employees can request vacation time off after the completion of six months of satisfactory continuous service.Sick Leave. Sick Leave is accrued for each hour worked. Accrual rates vary depending on date of hire and bargaining unit agreements. The accumulation of sick leave starts from your first day of employment and sick leave may be requested subsequent to the time it is earned.Health Insurance. Medical, dental, vision, prescription drugs, mental health, and chiropractic care for employees and their eligible dependents is available. The portion of the monthly cost that the employees are responsible for depends on their bargaining unit.Retiree Health Insurance. Upon retirement from the County, and depending on bargaining unit agreements, a percentage of accrued sick leave may be converted to be used to pay for retiree health insurance benefits for eligible employee and spouse.Job DetailsJob Details:As a Permanent Deputy District Attorney, you will play a critical role in the legal system, working diligently to ensure justice is served. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of cases, from juvenile to superior courts, and to lead and mentor other attorneys in the office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in criminal law, particularly in the prosecution of cases. This is a dynamic role that requires a high level of responsibility, expertise, and commitment. Responsibilities:1. Prosecute a wide variety of criminal cases in both Juvenile and Superior Courts, including complex and high-profile cases.2. Apply vertical prosecution techniques, managing cases from the point of assignment through to resolution.3. Lead, instruct, and provide supervision to other attorneys within the office, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.4. Review and analyze subject rap sheets for prior and past criminal records, utilizing this information to inform case strategy.5. File criminal complaints, ensuring all necessary procedures are followed and documentation is accurately completed.6. Advise, assist, and train other attorneys, sharing your knowledge and expertise to enhance the overall capabilities of the team.7. Maintain an active, valid membership in the California State Bar, staying informed of any changes or updates in the law that may impact your work.Qualifications:1. Possession of an active, valid membership in the California State Bar.2. Minimum of three years of experience practicing as a licensed attorney.3. At least one year of experience in the practice of criminal law or one year of experience as a Deputy District Attorney II.4. Proven experience in the prosecution of cases in Juvenile and Superior Courts.5. Experience with vertical prosecution techniques.6. Demonstrated ability to lead, instruct, assist, and advise other attorneys.7. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to review and interpret subject rap sheets for prior and past criminal records.8. Experience in a District Attorney's Office involving the preparation, presentation, and prosecution of criminal or civil cases before the court.9.
